Satya (Truthfulness) – The Second Yama | Sittha Viruthi Yoga
In our previous post, we explored Ahimsa—the practice of non-violence in thought, word, and action. Upon this strong foundation stands the second Yama of Sage Patanjali—Satya, the principle of Truth.
Satya is more than speaking the truth. It is living in harmony with what is true—in our thoughts, words, actions, and intentions. Truth builds trust, strengthens character, and brings inner peace. It frees us from fear, confusion, and pretence.
True Satya is always guided by Ahimsa. A truth that hurts unnecessarily is incomplete, while truth expressed with kindness becomes a force for healing and transformation.
At Sittha Viruthi Yoga, Satya is not merely taught—it is practised. Through meditation, self-awareness, and conscious living, participants gradually develop honesty with themselves, authenticity in relationships, and integrity in every aspect of life.
“Truth is not merely spoken; it is lived.”In our next post, we shall explore the third Yama—Asteya, the noble principle of Non-Stealing, which teaches us to respect what belongs to others and to cultivate contentment and integrity.
